Get ready for a hauntingly good Hallo-weekend. Halloween falls on a Monday this year, which means you can spend the weekend preparing for trick-or-treaters, and adding some last-minute alterations to your costume. This year, I’m looking forward to seeing some of the most-searched for costumes on Google, like Eleven (from Stranger Things), Harley Quinn, Star Wars characters, and of course, one of the 2016 presidential candidates.

This weekend, you can find plenty of Halloween-inspired events. Sip spooky cocktails, pick pumpkins, and grab some dinner before you party with all your costume-wearing friends.

Events are listed in chronological order

1. Halloween Ball

Friday, October 28, 7 – 11 pm, Spring Mill Manor, 171 Jacksonville Rd., Ivyland, PA

2. Eat, Drink, and Be Scary!

Friday, October 28, 7 – 9 pm, Crossing Vineyards and Winery, Wrightstown Rd., Newtown, PA

Halloween isn’t just for the kids. Instead of candy, treat yourself to an adult-evening of wine tasting, fortune-telling, and sweet treats at Crossing Vineyards and Winery. There will be tarot card readings, palm readings, and if you don the best costume, you can win a prize. Reservations are necessary, and there is additional wine available for purchase at the event. Cost of the evening is $40 per person. Call 215.493.6500 ext. 19 or buy online.

Also at the Crossing Vineyards this weekend on Saturday, October 29, head to the winery for a tasting of wines and mini-cupcakes. Cost is $35 per person. Call 215.493.6500 ext. 19 for more information and to make reservations.

3. Apple Tasting and Halloween Frights!

Apple tasting, caramel apples, face painting and great local food. The days are getting short and chilly but there are lots of fresh, delicious locally grown vegetables that are perfect for soups, stews and more: onions, leeks, potatoes, carrots, and many healthy greens. Try something new like a daikon or black radish, celeriac, fresh ginger and different kinds of winter squash. Stock up on autumn fruits—apples are abundant! Ask vendors for delicious ways to combine multiple products from the market. The market takes place rain or shine but this Saturday’s forecast is pure autumn weather—partly sunny with a high of 66°F.

Bring the beauty of Bucks County food into your home with photography from Bucks County Taste, now being shown and sold at the Wrightstown Farmers Market through Thanksgiving. Blank cards are only $4 each, framed photos start at $20. All photos are of Bucks County vegetables and fruits. You can’t get more local than that!
